Maintenance Technician

- Commercial Properties: Republic Building, Tebo Building, Art Hub, and more
- High-Use Facilities: Including our newest building, which presents unique safety challenges and an active environment
A Day in the Life
- Start your morning with a team huddle and review of daily work orders
- Tackle tasks such as changing out a water heater, repairing drywall, or fixing an electrical fault
- In the afternoon, support event setups or manage a landscaping crew while responding to service calls across town
- End your day by checking vehicle maintenance logs and prepping tools for tomorrow
Core Responsibilities
- General Maintenance: Complete unit turns, troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, and electrical issues, repair appliances, patch drywall, and perform carpentry
- Emergency Response: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for urgent after-hours repairs or weather-related emergencies
- Groundskeeping: Snow removal, lawn care, debris cleanup, and landscaping
- Event & Facility Support: Set up rooms for meetings, assist with furniture moves, and ensure shared spaces are ready for use
- Safety & Recordkeeping: Maintain daily logs and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment
Skills Assessment Required
All applicants will complete a Maintenance Skills & Knowledge Assessment to demonstrate:
- Technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical circuits, and appliance repair
- Ability to troubleshoot common issues and apply safe repair practices
- Familiarity with drywall repair, toilet installation, switch wiring, and more
- Proficiency using essential tools (saws, drills, multimeters, pipe wrenches, etc.)
- A self-rating questionnaire covering core competencies (e.g., attention to detail, communication, task efficiency)
This ensures you—and we—know you’re ready to succeed in the field.
What You Bring
- Minimum 1 year of professional maintenance or trade experience
- Hands-on knowledge of building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliances
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve quickly, and multitask across properties
- Strong verbal and written communication, especially with tenants and team members
- Comfort working in high-stress or unpredictable environments
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work indoors/outdoors in all conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Required Tool Kit
Candidates must supply their own tools, including (but not limited to): Cordless drill, socket set, wire strippers, voltage tester, utility knife, pliers, pipe wrench, caulking gun, hammer, screwdrivers, levels, saws, and PPE. A full tool checklist is included below.
